<sup>The summer sun beat down on Camp Rock. It was crazy how hot summer could be. It was also crazy how cold it could get. Sometimes it amazed Laken Rose Cullens how bipolar the weather could be sometimes. It could be warm and sunny one day and cold and rainy the next. It all depended on Mother Nature's mood. To her, that was never good. She like consistency.

Today was one of the hot days, luckily for Laken. That was one of the many appealing things about Camp Rock to her. She could sit in the sun and be warm. Of course she had sunscreen on. She would have to be crazy not to put that goop all over her skin. She was one of the whitest girls she knew.

Sitting on the springy green grass, her legs crossed in Indian style, she had her guitar on her lap. Laken was not currently playing it for she had an ear bud from her Zune stuck in her ear. Her brow was pulled together in a look of concentration. Her bottom lip was between her teeth as she thought hard.

She was thinking about the chords to the song she was listening to. Being far from internet access, Laken couldn't simply go to a computer and look up the tabs and chords to any song. She had to figure them out on her own. Not like she couldn't do that anyway. When she was first learning guitar, that was all she did. It was a skill she had.

Her finger going to the pause button, Laken picked up her guitar and placed her fingers to play a C chord. She started strumming, moving her fingers to play what she thought was were the right notes to the song. Her bottom lip was still between her teeth and her brow was still pulled together.

She set down her guitar when she played the fifteen seconds she was trying to figure out. A sigh escaped her lips and she unpaused the music, her finger now rewinding it. Laken needed to hear it again to make sure she got it right. A few of the notes sounded off.

Her brow straightening out and her lip being set free, she picked up her guitar again. She put her fingers back in place for a C chord and began to play again. This time Laken had gotten it right. She had figured out how to play Viva La Vida by Coldplay. A small smile was on her lips as she started to silently mouth the words and play along with the track on her Zune.
